Wed, 8th Jun 2016 - 6:00pm to 7:45pm

CILIP’s International Library & Information Group (ILIG) extends an open invite to join us at our June Informal.

We are delighted that Ian Anstice has agreed to speak to us about the Public Libraries News website which he founded in 2010. Since then the site has become a trusted and authoritative source of information about the (somewhat turbulent) plight of public libraries throughout the UK. Ian will also be talking about how the site has grown and evolved over time, taking on an international aspect. This includes looking at public library systems overseas and what we can learn from these here in the UK.

The event also relates to the following areas of CILIP's Professional Knowledge and Skills Base (PKSB):

2.7 Knowledge sharing and collaboration 2.8 Obtaining benefits from expertise

9.3 Advocacy

11.4 Service innovation, development, and design

12.5 Communication skills 12.6 Networking skills

ILIG Informals are not lectures; they are informal, but informative, early evening meetings with a short talk on a theme of international interest plus plenty of time for questions and networking.

They are open to all and absolutely free. Light refreshments are served which is why we ask you to let ILIG know you are coming by booking online (no later than 6th June, please) using the Book now button on the right.
