Professional Librarians: Leaflet This leaflet, produced by the School Libraries Group, is for all current and potential stakeholders (including parents, governors, teachers and students) in schools. It outlines what a professional Librarian, and the Library service they lead, will provide to pupils and the whole school community and why that is important.
School libraries: Briefings and resources This page includes the Designed for Learning video about designing school libraries, the CILIP shout about school libraries campaign and other websites.
Primary School Library Guidelines These guidelines were revised in 2014 by ASCEL, CILIP and SLA.
School Libraries - A Right is a statement from CILIP, issued in February 2011, on the role and value of school libraries. It sets out the core entitlements that every child, school's teaching team and wider school community should expect to receive. It provides the case for a properly resourced, professionally staffed school library.
Below are further documents to support School Librarians and decision-makers in schools. You will find a standard job description, as well as the fully-updated 'CILIP School Librarian Salary Guidelines 2014-15' document which details and maps out the various levels of school librarianship and the salary requirements that each should demand. Finally there is a document listing details of School Library Services across the country.
